Daily Itinerary

Day 01
Arrival to Porto
The richness of its monumental and artistic heritage, the Port Wine cellars and the many spots dedicated to leisure and culture are only some of the reasons that invite you to visit Porto. Your hotel is located in Porto downtown, near the Douro river, within a walking distance of the famous wine cellars.
Overnight in Porto.
Day 02
Stage 1: Porto - Barcelos (54 km | 34 mi)
Start cycling from the cobbled market square in Mosteiro to avoid trudging through Porto’s urban sprawl. You will cross several impressive Romanesque bridges, including the one in Barcelinhos that takes you into the historical Barcelos, a small city full of interesting architecture and crafts.
Overnight in Barcelos.
Day 03
Stage 2: Barcelos – Ponte de Lima (33 km | 21 mi)
Leave Barcelos towards Ponte de Lima and you´ll see a rural landscape, painted with small villages and traditional agricultural fields. As you go through the Neiva and Lima valleys you’ll see the Padela, Nora and d’Arga mountains, as well as the more distant Corno do Bico.
Enter the delightful town of Ponte de Lima along the river.
Overnight in Ponte de Lima.
Day 04
Stage 3: Ponte de Lima - Valença (35 km | 22 mi)
Leave Ponte de Lima by crossing the amazing Romanesque-Gothic bridge over the Lima river and enter into the challenging Labruja Mountain - you'll find some steep climbs, but also the beautiful countryside, ancient bridges, hamlets, and woodland waterfalls.
After crossing the mountain of Labruja, admire the impressive Romanesque church at Rubiães and continue to Cossourado. Then, head downhill to cross the Romanesque bridge over the River Pedreira. From here, it’s downhill, through several small villages, to the fortress town of Valença.
Overnight in Valença.
Day 05
Stage 4: Valença – Pontevedra (56 km | 35 mi)
Once on the Spanish side, after crossing the river Minho through the metallic international bridge, you will find the atmospheric town of Tui, with its fortified cathedral. Once past the rather industrial town of O Porriño, cycle through a series of villages and the Chan das Pipas pine forest. An ancient stone road takes you up through the forest before you hit the tarmac again, as you ride into the centre of Pontevedra.
Overnight in Pontevedra.
Day 06
Stage 5: Pontevedra – Padrón (41 km | 26 mi)
Although fairly long, the cycling to Padron is relatively hill-free and you’ll spend the day surrounded by pleasant countryside.
Bathe your feet in the hot springs in the centre of Caldas de Reis, then climb gradually through a series of hamlets and a delightful stretch of woodland. Take some time to explore medieval Padrón and discover its deep connection to St. James, as well as its tasty green peppers.
Overnight in Padrón.
Day 07
Stage 6: Padrón - Santiago (25 km | 16 mi)
Leave Padrón for the final cycling day of your Camino. Cycle through a series of Galician hamlets with traditional cottages and barns, as well as the imposing sanctuary of Nossa Señora da Escravitute. After a delightful wooded area, you’ll begin to find your way through the outskirts of Santiago and into the city centre. Enter the medieval streets that lead to Santiago Cathedral, where your journey ends.
Overnight in Santiago.
