Enjoy this self-guided e-bike holiday in Terceira, a vibrant place of people, culture and colour known as the Lilac Isle due to its captivating pastel sunsets.

During these seven days, you’ll visit the stunning coastline and the luxurious green forests of cryptomeria and green pastures in the interior of the Terceira island in the Azores.
Enjoy this self-guided e-bike holiday that takes you around Terceira, a vibrant place of people, culture and colour known as the Lilac Isle due to its captivating pastel sunsets. Cycle for 4 to 6 days with distances from 20 km to 45 km each day, with extra help from an e-bike.
Some highlights of this tour are the landscapes of dramatic lava coastline and natural pools, a visit to a volcano pit, tasting locally produced wine, visiting a UNESCO World heritage town. The lush green sceneries and the boat trip to observe the whales and dolphins complete the highlights.

Daily Itinerary

Day 01
Angra do Heroísmo
Arrive at Lages Airport and transfer to Angra Heroismo.
Briefing with A2Z guide, including detailed information, route notes, maps and GPS tracks.
Free time to enjoy the city, rich in monuments and classified by UNESCO as World Heritage.
Overnight at Angra do Heroísmo.
Day 02
Stage 1: Angra do Heroísmo - Serra de Santa Bárbara (38 km | 23.6 mi)
This route crosses rural ways along the coast, taking you to the inside of the island dominated by dense forests of endemic vegetation that reflect the native forest of the archipelago.
You´ll pass by Santa Bárbara Natural Park Interpretation Center, which allows the visitation of some volcanic landscapes, such as the Gruta de Natal and Lagoa das Patas.
Overnight at Angra do Heroísmo.
Day 03
Stage 2: Angra do Heroísmo - Serreta (22 km | 13.7 mi)
Leave Angra in the morning and cycle on the beautiful coast, passing by the small villages of S. Mateus, S. Bárbara, and Doze Ribeiras.

Day 04
Stage 3: Serreta - Praia da Vitória (47 km | 29.2 mi)
Leave Serreta, cycle along the coast and stop at Biscoitos, famous for its natural pools. You can enjoy swimming within black lava rocks in one of the largest natural pools in this region.
The next stop has to be the Biscoitos Wine Museum, where you can learn more about the wine-making process and taste a sample of locally produced wines that grow from the rich porous lava rock. Then, head to Praia da Vitoria.

Day 05
Stage 4: Praia da Vitória - Center of the Island (47 km | 29.2 mi) or Free Day at Praia da Vitória
If you opt for a day's cycling, you'll have the chance to return to the interior of Terceira, passing through the golf club to reach the fantastic Algar do Carvão chasm, which is well worth a visit.
On the way back, if you've got the energy, climb up to the island's most beautiful viewpoint, Serra do Cume, before heading back down to the end.
If you decide to take a break, there are plenty of activities available from Praia da Vitória: whale watching, sea kayaking, swimming on the sandy beach, windsurfing, hiking or even a round of golf.

Day 06
Stage 5: Praia da Vitória - Angra do Heroísmo (30 km | 18.6 mi) / Overnight at Angra do Heroísmo.
Today's ride is flat and easy, with the opportunity to visit Porto Martins and Porto Judeu and observe the Ilhéu das Cabras before you get to Angra do Heroísmo.

Day 07
Departure
Transfer from your Hotel to the Lages airport.
