From the "Raia" to "Beira Interior" regions, through Pinhal Interior to Alto Alentejo, this is an area of high tourism potential and numerous attraction factors. Day 01
Arrival to Castelo Branco
Take the Train or Bus to Castelo Branco or get a private transfer from Lisbon/Porto to Castelo Branco (optional).

Day 02
Cycling tour 1: Castelo Branco | Sobreira Formosa (distance: 44 km | Climbing: + 800 m)
Today's ride is very interesting: beautiful landscapes where you´ll be able to explore the history, traditions, colours, smells and tastes of such a diverse territory.
You will be surprised to find Sobreira Formosa, isolated in the middle of the valley - a pile of houses that touch and confuse, leaning on narrow, winding, equally ancient streets.

Day 03
Cycling tour 2: Sobreira Formosa | Vila Velha de Ródão (distance: 40 km | Climbing: +650 m)
Today you will ride in the direction of Spain until Vila Velha de Ródão. For many centuries, this village was mainly rural. However, since the second half of the 20th century, many industries were created and developed, changing the architectural, cultural and human landscape. Nevertheless, Vila Velha de Ródão is situated in a place of great natural beauty, as one can observe from its high Castle and the amazing “Portas de Ródão”, probably the most interesting and beautiful place of this municipality, from where you have astonishing panoramas.

Day 04
Cycling tour 3: Vila Velha de Ródão | Rosmaninhal (distance: 60 km | Climbing: +1000 m)
Leaving Vila Velha de Ródão behind, today will be your last ride of this amazing journey in such an idyllic region, full of history and traditions.
Your last stoppage is in the town of Rosmaninhal, that had some importance up to the 19th century, mainly because it has a strategic position in relation to the border with Spain. It was seat of county until 1840. It has the peculiarity of being divided in two parts: the old zone (with the 16th century pillory that is one of the most beautiful of Beira Baixa, the house of the Câmara, the Largo da Guarita, and near the Igreja Matriz (Mother Church), existed once a fortress that was rebuilt by D. João IV during the Restoration War) and the exterior of the parish (suburbs), with more recent housing and housing.

Day 05
Cycling tour 4: Rosmaninhal | Salvaterra do Extremo (distance: 43 km | Climbing: +550 m)
The pleasure of ending the day with the greetings of an ancient local inhabitant, still reflecting in is facing the hardness and the happiness of a life lived in harmony with the strengths of nature, is one of those moments that will make you smile of joy and gratitude. This will happen in the last stopage of your day, in the town of Salvaterra do Extremo, located in the eastern confines of the county of Idanha-a-Nova.
Salvaterra do Extremo was originally designated as Salvaterra da Beira. The origins of the village date back to the beginning of the thirteenth century. In 1229 he received the charter of D. Sancho II. The village grew out of walls, with its back facing Castile, down the west slope of the elevation where the castle was erected.

Cycling tour 5: Salvaterra do Extremo | Monsanto (distance: 40 km | Climbing: +650 m)
Leaving Salvaterra do Extremo behind you´ll cycle to until reach the Historical Village of Monsanto.
Perched on a hilltop that oversees all the surrounding horizons, the village of Monsanto has a unique charm that has earned it two titles in the 20th century – the Most Portuguese Village in Portugal in 1938 and Historical Village in 1995. Monsanto is one of the region's main tourist attractions and offers visitors a unique experience. It was granted charters by King Afonso Henriques, King Sancho I, King Sancho II and King Manuel. The oldest part is also the highest point, where the Knights Templar built a wall with the donjon.

Day 07
Cycling tour 6: Monsanto | Castelo Branco (distance: 60 km | Climbing: +700 m)
Leaving Monsanto behind, today will be your last ride of this amazing journey in such an idyllic region, full of History and traditions.
You´ll arrive at Castelo Branco again, a town on a human scale that is well worth knowing, with distinct architecture, a Templar castle, 15th century doors and churches, Baroque gardens and manor houses belonging to families with Historical roots.
While you´re visiting Castelo Branco, the capital of “Beira Baixa”, you will see all this in a place which combines tradition and novelty. Discovering it should be done at your own pace, exploring nooks and crannies that are not always encountered by tourists.

Departure

Get the Train/Bus to Lisbon or Porto.
Transfer from Castelo Branco to Lisbon/Porto (optional).
